All you need is love

Scott and I spend every free minute we have with each other. We're so ridiculous we literally cannot be in two separate rooms if we're in the house at the same time. If Scott is on the computer downstairs and I'm upstairs cooking dinner he'll grab the laptop and come join me in the kitchen.
This week Scott was planning on taking a vocational class. It would only be this week from 5:30-8:00 p.m., really, no big deal. The plan fell through and when I found out the class wasn't going to work out I was so excited. So we can now get back to the butterfly kisses and the constant holding of the hands. Yeah baby!

The workout and other things

(Very close to an actual picture.)
So, today I was on the treadmill with my wrist weights on, my water near my side, and my ipod going. I really like to get into the music, it allows me to zone out and get through my workout with out quitting half way through. As I was zoning a song shuffled in called The Adventure by Angels and Airwaves. As soon as the beat of the song popped into my head I immediately started to day dream. Now, if you're like me, and maybe I'm weird, but I tend to day dream a tad when a good song comes on (and other times as well, I admit). It reminds me of all those sentimental moments in all those great movies you see. As the song started my mind began it's own movie and the next thing I know I'm outside walking along a beautiful suburban street. I've had six kids, but I still look fabulous. I really work out for the pure fun of it. As I'm walking I'm smiling and waving to neighbors that I pass. A montage of memories pass through over my minds movie screen. The day I was married, the certificate I received from the city for all my free hair service's to the homeless, cutting the red ribbon in front of Scott's new office, the births of our children, our spectacular vacations, and our awesome family reunions to Hawaii, and the Galapagos. As the music is playing I start to run (still day dreaming guys) I run through the cherry blossoms falling over the street from the neighbors cherry tree. I have a wonderful life, I'm happy, I'm healthy, and I have everything I dreamed of having in life.........then the lyrics to the song bring me back to reality.
I wanna have the same last dream again,
the one where I wake up and I'm alive.
Just as the four walls close me within,
my eyes are opened up with pure sunlight.
I realized that my dream come true was right here, where I was, on my treadmill. Life is fantastic!!! I'm the one who makes my dream a reality and so far I feel I've been doing pretty good. I may have spent the last cheesiest five minutes dabbling in another dream, but it wasn't my dream.
Don't get me wrong, I'm still going to day dream. Like the one from my childhood: I dream that I've been taken away from my family and while the "sentimental music" is playing I turn and look out the back window of the car I'm in and slowly place my hand on the window as a tear falls down my face. "Goodbye", I whisper, "I will see you again." and the song plays on.
Whew, pretty heavy afternoon huh? Well, I apologize there aren't any pictures because I truly did have a good movie/day dream face going on. Along with the smile and waves to the neighbors. Ok, reality. Life really is good. We are coming up on our three out of eight classes we are supposed to attend at LDS services. The adoption process is still moving along and we hope to have all the paper work in before the end of April. So, we are looking at May to be approved and on the list.
I have liberated myself from taking all fertility medications. Yippy! This is such an awesome lift off my shoulders. No more filling and re-filling prescriptions, and forgetting and remembering to take them at the wrong time. All I'm taking now are good for you vitamins, and keeping up on my way girly figure by working out more! Yes, yes, I've heard the myth; once you put your focus on something else you'll get pregnant. Great, if not, Great. We are ready to handle anything.
Over the last couple of weeks the weather has been very ideal. Scott and I have the "garden" bug and we've made a few plans and goals for our yard this year. We'll be planting some trees, doing some landscaping and planting beautiful flowers.
Our bathroom is finally coming together (next time I'll have pictures) Scott and Brian got the awesome jetted tub in place and hooked up on Friday. Whaoo, I can't wait for bath time!!! We're hoping to have the paint, the vanity, the sink, and the new floor in by next week.(our case worker, Kate, from LDS services will be inspecting our home right around then) We literally tore this bathroom apart and we are now rebuilding it. We've really had a lot of fun remodeling our home. It has come together very well.
Last weekend my mother called and invited us to go bowling over at the Allstar lanes. This wasn't your typical bowling, even better, COSMIC bowling. My mother was calling to invite me and Scott to go cosmic bowling. How cool is my mom! So, at 10:30 we met up with them, and my sister and her husband and enjoyed a night of cosmic fun with music to shake your booty too, which we all did, including my dad, with games and food and of course, a lot of bowling fun. We finally left at 1:00 a.m. It really was a good time. If you get a chance you should go cosmic bowling sometime. If you need a babysitter, give us a call. If not, call your mother, have her baby sit, and we'll come with you!
On Thursday night, Scott and I took a trip up to Brighton ski resort, we have some fond memories there. Our plan was to go up, make out, and then come home. Instead we talked, and talked, and laughed, and cried, and talked, and then as we were about to leave a coyote walked right in front of our car. This was Scott's first time ever seeing a coyote. Wylee was a girl and interesting to watch. Scott was in awe. We watched her, followed her in the car for a while, and then watched her again. It was a very unique night. If I see another coyote I'll think of Wylee and our night we didn't make out up at Brighton.
So there's the update. I'm sorry my post are few and far between. Since I don't have access to the Internet at work my normal lunch hour jaunts on the blog are off. Cross your fingers and pray for this "working from home" thing to happen through work and maybe this few and far between stuff will disappear! Until next time, Goodnight!!

One year away from the BIG THREE 0!

So, it's true, today is my birthday. Sunday was my families celebration of my birth and while Kristy was putting up the balloons around the dinning room table I noticed the balloons read, "Happy 4th Birthday." We all cracked up over the mistake but at that same moment my mind quickly took a flash back to the simpler days when birthday's really meant something. Where you would celebrate the whole week long, or the whole weekend long (depending on what day it fell on) with birthday parties at home, at school, or in primary. And the parties were great. The sleepovers, the trip to McDonald's, or the miniature golf. Whatever the activity it sure beats how they are now. Don't get me wrong, Scott does a fabulous job of surprising and celebrating but it's rare that you come home from a long day of work, on your birthday, and arrive to a house full of close friends and family wishing you a Happy Birthday and giving you boat loads of gifts to open. Childhood is so relaxing and stress free!

After that quick flash back, reality took a bite and I was 29 again. Crap, What's 30 going to be like. Another thought pops in: "Man, I never saw myself here 20 years ago." Life has definitely not taken the course I really thought it would take when I was 9. I wanted to be a mom with 8 kids, live in a mansion and have candy all the time. Well, that sure didn't happen!, well, maybe the candy part. Have you seen my butt!!!!

Life has thrown me a few curve balls but truly I am blessed with many wonderful things and unfathomable opportunities. I have another year before life makes me really old (leaving the 20's will be hard) so by then maybe I'll be a mom, I already live in a great house, and hopefully I'll look fantastic. (That candy thing I'm seriously re-thinking.) Happy Birthday to me.

The Nissan Sentra

(Not the actual car, but it sure did look similar)
I was coming home from work this afternoon and this horrid Nissan Sentra merged in front of me. The gentleman (if that's what you would call him, he looked horrid himself) had a girl sitting next to him in the passenger seat and they were having a good time yuck yucking about something. I was baffled by the condition this car was in. We were coming to a stop light and as we were stopping I started to picture this gentlemans home. "What must that be like? If he has no pride in his car, can you imagine his living conditions." And then I got to thinking about how jugemental my 1 sec. thought had been. As I was having this mental conversation the guy rolled down his window and pulled out some windex and started spraying the windshield as his windshield wipers were going. The girl in the passenger seat did the same thing. "Holy crap, that's hilarious." Hey, if the car works ......

Catch Up

Well, this last month has been very busy, crazy, and at times we were venturing into territory we were un-familiar with.

I received a job offer with a company called Orbit Medical. I've been training for 2 weeks already and I'm finally getting excited. Hopefully by May I can be working from home through Orbit. (That's the dream anyway) I really enjoyed having two weeks off, and searching for a job was no picnic, but due to a good resume I got a lot of offers and I'm happy with the company I chose.

While I had some time off I decided to finish the quilt I started for Scott. I wanted to get it done before his birthday. I finished it the morning of his birthday and I do have to say, I'm quite impressed with the finished result.

Scott loves it, and it's just his size!

On Friday the 16th I called in to work and said I wouldn't be in. I thought for sure I'd be fired, being that it was my first week with my new job, but all worked out well. Why did I call in, you ask? Because Scott decided to wrestle with Brian Miller the night before and due to his old age, pulled some big muscles in his back and shoulder and couldn't move for two days. I called in to work so I could be home with Scott. Someone had to help him get out of bed when he had to use the bathroom, some one needed to feed him and wipe his mouth. He couldn't even sniff his back and shoulder hurt so bad. By Sunday I was sick of his moaning and groaning and started to make fun of him, at times I wouldn't even help him up and he then would have to crawl to the bathroom (I'm totally kidding) by Monday he was getting back to normal but decided to take the day off anyway. Obviously that weekend was shot. Scott is finally back to normal, and is realizing that wrestling maybe isn't the right move for someone his age!

Last week I was getting sick of my normal work out routine. So, I found this awesome website called PodFitness.com. It allows me to choose from a variety of real workout trainers and music of my own choice and then it fashions a workout session targeted toward me and my body needs and level of fitness. If you have an ipod you should check this out. It has really made my workouts more enjoyable. (you don't need a video ipod for this) http://www.podfitness.com/

Last Friday Scott and I attended our first adoption orientation through LDS services. It was two hours long and they went through all our paper work, who qualifies (we do) and they answered any questions or concerns we had when it comes to adoption. We left overwhelmed and excited. There's a lot involved with just getting on the waiting list. We have to have Dr's exams, back ground checks, Bishop's referral, a collage of our married life, and two page letters from both Scott and I along with other misc paper work. It's about a three month process. We are then assigned a case worker who comes to our house and works with us until a baby is placed in our home. The wait could be from 6 months to 7 yrs. (there's a couple who has been on the waiting list that long) To help speed the process up they post our profile on the LDS services adoption web-site and give us pass along cards. The pass along cards are to give to family, friends, or people in our ward. If they know of a young women who is expecting then they give her that pass along card and hopefully she'll want to match up with us and then we go through the adoption process with her. It's all very complicated to explain. We want children so bad that we will do anything, no matter how hard or complicated, to make that happen. We've been trying for almost 6 1/2 yrs. now and we really are hoping for something wonderful to happen!

When one door closes, another opens.

The last couple of weeks have been a little crazy for us and it has to do with a door closing and another one opening. On Jan. 26th I was laid of from work, a job I had been with for almost 6 years. The company has been going through some tough times and with the loss of one of their accounts I, along with a few others, was let go. Of course I was in shock at the news, but there had been hints here and there that there would be some down sizing. My name tag would keep falling off my desk, I was getting the cold shoulder from the CEO, and of course there was the "feeling". It was sad to leave my close friends and the comforts that came with the job, but after the initial shock I went into the "everything will be ok" mode (of course this also occurred with the help of Scott) So, for the past two weeks I have been searching for a job.(not too frantically) After many interviews and job offers I start work on Monday with a company called Orbit Medical. Doing pretty much the same thing I was doing before.
What has been so great about all this is the time I've had off and the great things I have been able to do. Last week I was able to go to the Dr's whenever I wanted. No, "let's figure this out with my work schedule." I went shopping in the middle of the day. I had lunch with my Dad on his birthday, I went with my mom to Salt Lake to help her out at the Relief Society resource center (she's a service missionary there), I was able to help out and make dinners for people in the ward who had been sick or just had babies, I had my visiting teacher over (her nights are always swamped), I had dinner ready every night when Scott got home from work, and I had the house clean and laundry done. Being home has been AWESOME!!! I told Scott, "you will make more money, and I will stay home!" (of course this is when we have children, which had better be soon!!) Along with this time off we were able to make some other personal realizations. The Lord truly blesses us in our time of need!

Ode to Diet Coke

I take a dive into divinity
when there's diet coke in the vicinity
it reaches out and takes a hold
the stuff is like liquid gold
I know it's bad for me but I don't care
I drink and drink till there's nothing there
it's the sweet nectar of the gods
even though it puts my health at odds
so this is my little ode to diet coke
(it's a heck of a lot better then egg yolk)
Oh how I love thee diet coke of mine
in my hand you sure do shine!!!

Everything comes down to poo

Now, everyone knows that Scott's world centers around his BM's! (You obviously know where this post is going, so stop now if you don't want to know anymore about poo) He broadcast his love for the stuff to everyone and everything whenever he gets the chance. It can be a little embarrassing for me sometimes, but for the most part I have really come to appreciate it too.

We love the show "Scrubs" it makes us laugh hard every week! But this last episode was right up Scott's alley. The episode was about a woman who fainted in the park. When she was revived everyone around her, including herself sang all their words whenever they would speak. So the whole episode was a big, fun, musical, while at the same time trying to figure out what the lady's illness was.

I want to share one of the songs that Scott really enjoyed:

You see.... Everything comes down to poo!

From the top of your head, to the sole of your shoe

We can figure out what's wrong with you by lookin' at your poo!
Do you have a hemorrhoid or is it rectal cancer?

When you flush your dookie down, you flush away the answer

It doesn't really matter if it's hard or if it's loose

We'll figure out what's ailing you, as long as it's a deuce!

Yes!Everything comes down to poo!

Everything comes down to poo!

Cardiovascular and lymphatic, yes, the nervous system, too!

All across the nation, we trust in defecation!

Everything comes down to poo!

If you want to know what's wrong, don't sit and act so cool

Just be a man and eat some bran, and drop the kids off at the pool!

My stomach hurts

Check the poo

I sprained my ankle

Check the poo!

I was shot!

Check the poo!

A homeless guy threw poo in my eye!

Check the poo!

Mine or his?

First him, then you!

It may sound gross, you may say "shush!"

But we need to see what comes out of your tush!

Because!Everything comes down to poo!

Whether it's a tumor or a touch of the flu!
Please, won't you pinch us off a big, fat clue!
Our number one test is your Number Two!
If there's no breeze, light a match please!

Everything comes down to --
Doo-doo! Doo-doo! Doo-doo! Doo-doo!
Everything comes down to ... POO

So now this song has become Scott's ringer on my cell phone. Kinda immature huh!!!

Surfn' Jack Russell Style

Scott and I are hoping we can train Sam to be this cool on the waves this summer!
She could totally do it!

Video ipod

So, for Christmas Scott got me this wicked awesome video ipod. I never really had a desire to own one. It's funny because I would always use my pda to listen to music or books and since the pda didn't have a lot of memory I would always make Scott add more to the pda after I got through with the stuff that was previously on it. Scott became very sick of this routine and resorted to buying me this freakn' slick video ipod. I LOVE IT!!
It's amazing how easy they are to use. And you can take it anywhere. I've used it at home, working out, at work, on the road, in the Dr's office, I could go on. My one problem? I needed something to protect it, a cool case of some sort. The ipod is black and you could see smudges and finger prints very easily and I was always very careful to not drop it. One day I was looking for some protection for my ipod when I came across this cool website: www.ifrogz.com by far it had the coolest cases and they weren't nearly as expensive as what I had been seeing while surfing the web. What's even cooler, is that the company is located right here in Utah. Logan, UT. to be exact. Not only had I found my dream ipod case, but I was supporting a Utah business!
It took about 11 days to get my new ifrogz case in the mail, but it has been worth it. It has protected my ipod so well! Thanks Scott for such a great and handy Christmas gift!

p.s. I was so excited about my case that I actually wrote a review on the ifrogz website!!

Aaah, the lazy days of bitter cold January!

Last week was an absolute lazy week for Scott and I. I was just getting over a cold and every time I stepped over the threshold of our home the overwhelming urge to do NOTHING seeped in. I fell into temptation and drug Scott along with me.

Monday: "So, how about Subway tonight?"
" Great, I'll go grab it on my way to the Library."
Tuesday: " Taco Tuesday sounds good?"
"Great, I'll pick it up when I go pick up my prescriptions."
Wednesday: " 'Friends' and a hamburger sound like a good way to spend the evening."
"Great, I'll grab it on my way home from work."
and so on..................................
This destructive pattern happened right up until Saturday night. My dishes hadn't been touched, not that there was much to do, and the laundry was certainly piling up. Scott never complained, and so we continued to live like pigs for a whole week.
We watched movies, caught up on all our missed TV shows (love the tivo), and downloaded songs for our ipod. We even tried to tackle our bathroom remodeling project on Saturday but instead grabbed a hot dog and soda at Costco after going to a matinee movie. Man, life's hard!!!
Saturday night we finally realized that this had to stop. Our lazy days had to come to an end. I was actually missing the cooking I used to do. I really wanted to wear clean clothes, and the dust on my bathroom vanity was just too much. I blame all this laziness on the bitter cold we've been having. We've been in the mood to just be comfortable and warm, and that is exactly what we have been. Comfortable, warm, and mega lazy. What an awesome way to start out the new year when you haven't made any resolutions. Hopefully when I step over the threshold tonight Scott will hear, "Hey honey, how does spaghetti sound?" and then when he goes to bed he'll have a clean bathroom to clean up in, and some clean pj's to wear.

Resolutions

So it's 2007. Actually it's 8 days into the new year. This is the time that everyone decides to change something about themselves, get rid of an annoying habit, or do something new and different. I've been making resolutions for as long as I can remember and the easier the goal, the more likely I am to accomplish it. One of my goals for last year was to keep a journal. No prob, did that, and I have reaped the rewards. My other goal was to loose weight. Too hard, no way, didn't drop a pound! I guess this resolution stuff is all in the head.
So this year, instead of making my New Years Resolutions, I'm not making any at all. This year is the year for me to succeed! It's all in the head guys! If there are no expectations then at the end of the year there won't be any disappointments, there won't be any deep depression to go through, there won't be another new year where I sit down and reflect over the things I never accomplished or tried, or goals that I didn't reach.
I'm hoping that if I don't obsess over it, I'll actually conquer it! So wish me luck on the whole "not making a resolution this year" and we'll see what this year will bring!

Catch up

Well, it's been quite the month! With having two weeks off work, Christmas, and a wedding, time can really pass by. It's nice to be back to normal, but it's sad to see the fun times go. Christmas went so fast for us that we hardly got any pictures. I guess since we don't have any children yet, it really isn't worth capturing. We enjoyed our first Christmas eve at home and it was fun to have my side of the family spend the night and to be there to welcome Christmas day. Kristy's wedding came even faster and it was so special to all join together as an eternal family in the Temple to see Kristy and Ryan sealed. By a special experience during the sealing, we also felt Scott's (my little brother) presence as well. New years came and went with a bang, and of course we are now back to normal.....except for a horrible cold I've picked up. So until my next exciting post. Good night!

p.s. Thanks Kendi and Kim for finding slide.com, it's awesome!

Chicken with it's head cut off.

So, I was thinking about how crazy my life has been lately and the title for my blog popped into my head, "Chicken with it's head cut off". I really feel like I have been running around like a chicken with it's head cut off. I haven't even finished Christmas shopping and I still have so many other things to do before Sunday. I was looking for a picture that I could post with this entry when I came across this picture and fascinating story. It cracked me up and so I thought I would share.

Have you ever felt you were running around aimlessly, like a chicken with its head cut off? Well, in Fruita, Colorado, you can do that every year at the annual festival that honors Mike, the headless chicken!
Believe it or not, and many people don't, a Colorado farmer attempting to dispatch a chicken for dinner in 1945, ended up with one of the biggest non-hoaxes of the era, and a place in the Guinness World Book of Records for the headless chicken who survived the longest.
Lloyd Olsen had been sent out to the yard, to sacrifice a plump young rooster of about six months. And guess who was coming to dinner to eat it? His mother-in-law. Knowing how she favored the neck, Olsen went about his task with the idea of keeping on the mother in law's good side, by keeping most of the neck on the chicken. He succeeded in a way he'd never have expected in his wildest dreams.
When the chicken (who later became known as Mike, although nobody remembers why) was decapitated, he refused to lay down and die. While many birds slaughtered this way will appear to run around for a few seconds, it's actually a nerve/adrenalin response by the body, with no actual intent to escape. They drop down, and die. But not Mike.
He continued to run around the chicken pen. Olsen let him be, and the next morning, found Mike asleep with his "head" under his wing. Figuring that any bird who wanted to live that bad, was worth the work, he began feeding grain and water directly into the gullet through an eye dropper. When Mike was still alive a week later, Olsen packed him up, and drove him to the University of Utah, to explain the phenomenon.
Apparently the axe had severed the head above the brain stem, missing the jugular vein and leaving the entire brain, and one ear. A large clot had stayed any major bleeding, and the wound healed over, leaving the gullet open for feeding.
Not only did Mike live for another 18 months, but he grew to a creditable eight pounds, and became a national news story as well as a sideshow attraction. Mike went to that great chicken coop in the sky during a road trip in Arizona, when he began to choke in the middle of the night, and Olsen was unable to find the eyedropper with which they kept his throat cleared.

Pretty amazing huh!

Cosmic blow-outs

Scott and I pride ourselves on our unique relationship. We feel it a blessing that we rarely ever, and I mean hardly ever, fight! But of course, no one is perfect and therefore on occasion, and again it is rare, we can get into a tiff or two.
Yesterday just happened to be one of these days. I had a full evening planned and was just getting home from work when Scott called me on his way home and asked if I would take him over to Spencer's. Spencer had asked Scott if he could borrow our ladder and since they had plans to drive to Draper together for a dinner meeting, he thought he would be nice and deliver the ladder before they left. I had need of the truck for some errands I had to run and so Scott asked if I would drop him off at Spencer's, along with the ladder(since the truck was needed to get the ladder to Spencer's) and then I would take the truck for myself.
Since Scott was fully aware of my plans and time limit for the night, I felt that this request was a little too much. Unfortunately I handled the situation wrong, and from there everything back fires. I won't get into the even longer story, but for whatever reason, whenever we get into a heated argument and feelings linger for over thirty minutes or so, something disastrous happens. It's like the cosmos feel the unusual disarray and a cosmic reaction occurs!

The cosmic reaction:(we've left the house in the truck together and we're not talking) Suddenly, the ladder is lifted from the back of the truck and slides out into oncoming traffic.

Scott; "Holy $%&8!"

Me; " " (nothing) I mean come on! We're still fighting!

Scott recklessly pulls into someone's driveway and turns around heading the other direction to retrieve the, hopefully still intact, ladder. As we head toward the ladder, cars are running all over it. Ok, it was just one car, but it was a good run over.

After we finally retrieve the ladder and it's securely in place in the back of the truck we silently head off toward Spencer's again.

Rewind 6 1/2 years: Scott and I are living in Holladay. We decide it's about time we return the twin mattress that Scott's parents let us borrow. We load the mattress and box springs into the back of our then purple Tacoma!

Tiff, Tiff, we start to fight (can't remember the details) and we're off again, silent, heading toward the freeway. We're getting on the on ramp when all of a sudden the mattress catches wind and sails out and lands in the middle of the freeway! We watch in horror as multiple cars drive right over the top shredding and mutilating the just minutes ago, almost new, twin bed!

Forward 5 1/2 years: We are on our way home from camping. Everything has been shoved into the back of our truck. We're exhausted, we've had a very long weekend, and we are in the middle of a pretty good fight. BAM!!! du dun du dun du dun. The tire blows on the truck and were going 75 mph. Scott is frantically trying to gain control. We finally pull over and survey the damage. It's pretty bad, and we realize we're pretty lucky we didn't roll.

Rewind 3 years: We're in our Apt. in Holladay again. We have a free Friday night, it's summer, and we decide to walk to the store to grab some drumbsticks. As we are leaving I snidely say, "do you have your keys and your wallet?."

Scott; "Why do you ask that all the time! I ALWAYS HAVE MY KEYS AND I ALWAYS HAVE MY WALLET."

the door is locked, and we are on our way. Five steps later Scott stops and informs me that he doesn't have his keys. GREAT!

long story short, we finally get back into our apartment 4 hours later!

I guess there's a reason we choose not to fight as much as most couples. We are trying to survive, trying to make it through the day, having a uniquely "non-fighting" relationship will in the end truly be what allows us to live as long as we do!

You can never cry too much in one day...Right?

I consider myself a generally happy person, but that all changed for me in a period of about 12 hours! I'm sitting at work yesterday morning and I got this unbelievable rush of emotion. For really no apparent reason the flood just started to come, so much that I have to get up and leave and go to the bathroom to finish off my burst. Yes, it's true, I started my period two days ago but unfortunately this is nothing new! And I admit, I've cried during months that I felt there would be some progress in our fertility situation to find out I was wrong, but it was nothing like today.
I sat in the women's bathroom for about 15 min just sobbing. After I got back to my desk from my uncontrollable breakdown, I get a call from my manager asking if I will come to her office to speak with her. Great!!! My eyes are red and my nose is throbbing from being blown so much. So after a few hand sweeps across the face for air I make my way to her office hoping in the next few seconds the walk will magically make me look refreshed.....Uh, NO!! I get to her office and the first thing she says to me is, "Are you ok? Have you been crying?" Oh crap, oh crap, here comes the flood and all of my dignity gone! So I blunder through what I think is upsetting me. My manager is a very great human being! She was very understanding and sympathetic. I cried and laughed in her office for over 30 min. Then, later we have a meeting and we're talking about the sub for Santa we are doing this year through work. AGAIN, I start to cry. Just talking about this family we'll be giving Christmas to just made me well up and I cried again. I had to leave the meeting just to get control over myself. Holy COW!! This is absolutely INSANE!! I needed to get over this, and quickly. I was coming across as a nut case. Nothing bad has happened to me, and I haven't experienced anything upsetting, at least nothing new. It has to all be hormonal. It has to be!
So I go to lunch with a friend from work and we laugh so much that I start to cry. Can I not get away from this today, Geez. It was great to be laughing and enjoying the rush of endorphins that were sweeping through my body, but did I have to end it with tears coming out my eyes?
I finally leave work. I'm absolutely exhausted from crying. I get in the car and my radio is tuned to FM 100. All Christmas music. The song comes on about the boy in the shoe store who's trying to buy shoes for his dying mom. You know the one that everyone should know by now because it's played so much during the holiday. Yeah, so I cry again. WHAT IS GOING ON!!!
I get home, Scott if fully aware of the state I have been in all day, thanks to texting. He takes me into his arms and all of a sudden the world is right! He's the only one who can calm the giant bawl boob inside! We had plans to go work out when I got home. Instead we spent the night in enjoying each others company. Exactly what I needed. Later that night I fell asleep and never slept better. I guess I needed a good cry, but the whole day, COME ON!!!

My Year In Review

Well, this year has, like most years once you're an adult, flew by!!! I might be a little premature in writing this blog, but this topic has been on my mind. I was writing in my journal yesterday and thought it might be fun to do a review of my year. So many interesting things have happened both good and bad, I thought I might share.

In January I made up to 400 rolls and sold them to a lady who needed them for a banquet she was in charge of. I sold two other batches later that same month. (maybe I should open a bakery.)

Scott and I attended our first Valentines dance since being married. We really ripped up the floor.

Attended a funeral that was held for my sister-in-laws mother. My thoughts are still with you Kristen!

Celebrated Scott's birthday snowmobiling and spent the night at a bed and breakfast.

Taught myself and almost perfected Russian punch needle.

Did not win the "Harmon's biggest looser" contest.

Attended my first LDS expo.

Bought a house.

Remodeled our house.

Didn't sale my hand made jewelry on e-bay.

Found out Ty and Kim are having a BOY!

Had a painful procedure done without an anesthetic.

Surprised my parents with a romantic get-a-way.

Michael and Danielle had their 4th child. Congratulations!

Spencer and Rheina got engaged.

Did not start my home salon.

Kelly and Andrew visited Utah 4 times this year.

Scott and I started a membership at a local gym.

On Dec. 29th my sister is getting married.

Kept a pretty good journal this year.

I hope you all have had a good year. It's been fun going back and reading about all the things that happened this year. With 2007 coming I hope to check off the things I wasn't able to do this year. Like they always say, "there's always next year." And boy does it come fast!

Happy Thanksgiving

I Ate Too Much Turkey
I ate too much turkey,
I ate too much corn,
I ate too much pudding and pie,
I'm stuffed up with muffins
and much too much stuffin',
I'm probably going to die.
I piled up my plate and I ate and I ate,
but I wish I had known when to stop,
for I'm so crammed with yams, sauces, gravies, and jams
that my buttons are starting to pop.
I'm full of tomatoes and french fried potatoes,
my stomach is swollen and sore,
but there's still some dessert,
so I guess it won't hurt if I eat just a little bit more.

Time flys by

Today was another crazy day. Plus it's Monday, which makes it even better! Work was non- stop, and with it going, going, going, the time flys by! So much that I get to work and the next thing I know it's lunch time and then all of a sudden it's five o' clock! During this crazy day I had this feeling that today was important, today was significant, today was a day that six years ago changed my life forever! To be honest, I will NEVER forget what happened on this day six years ago. Life becomes all encompassing that these moments, when we finally have a moment to reflect, are all of a sudden upon us!

It was a Monday night. We had just been informed that Scott (my little brother) had only one month to live. He had been suffering from leukemia for over two years and his organs had fought as long as they could and were finally shutting down. It's amazing the strength we all had during that last family home evening. We had no idea this would be our last time with Scott here on earth. Just before we left that night, I remember sitting down next to Scott and whispering in his ear, "Good night pooker, I love you forever through all eternity and beyond." (we would always say "I love you forever through all eternity and beyond") It's ironic how appropriate it truly was that night. When we got home we got a call from my mom informing us that Scott had passed away. It had only been twenty minutes since we had last seen him. I never cried so hard in my life!

It's amazing how raw your emotions are after a moment like that. It stays with you for a long time. It changes you; you face new challenges in ways you never thought possible, and you sympathizes with others on a different level. Life also goes on and before you know it it's been years. This thought in itself just reminds me of how short our lives truly are on this earth. If you die when you're 13 or when you 95, life whizzes by. I'm so thankful for the plan of salvation.

Tonight we went down to the cemetery to remember and honor his life and we left with a greater understanding of this great plan our Heavenly Father has for us!

Love you Scott forever through all eternity and beyond!

The Miracle in Sunday School

On Saturday Scott and I were invited, by Scott's grandfather, to attend Legacy's Sunday school meeting which are held every Wednesday night. He is currently the Sunday school president and was having a guest speaker come for the meeting and thought we'd be interested in attending.

Let's get a little background: Scott's grandfather is 85 yrs old and has only been a member of the church for about a year and seven months. Before then he was a great support to all his grandson's when they were on their missions, but he had no interest in becoming a Mormon! None of us realized the great change that would take place in this man once he moved here to Utah after living in San Francisco for some time. He was set in his ways, and we never imagined the miracles that would result in his move.

So, there we were last night, sitting in a room full of senior citizens. We were getting ready to hear Prof. Victor Ludlow, who's a professor at BYU, give a well anticipated lesson on Prophetic repetitions. Scott and I were thrilled we had the night open so we could come and learn.

It's funny how the spirit works, and it's funny the individual lessons we take from a church meeting. I was there to hear and learn from this professor, which I did. But the real lesson came when I watched as Scott's grandfather stood up to conduct the meeting. This was the first time I had seen him conduct and it's amazing how touching it was. He stood there, very humble, and welcomed everyone, shared a thought, announced the opening hymn and then held the microphone for the sister who gave the opening prayer.
After the wonderful message that was given that night, Doug stood up again and thanked the speaker and announced that our closing hymn for the night was, "We thank thee O God for a Prophet." He then gave a quick history of this hymn and then we proceeded to sing. I couldn't even finish the song. All I could think about was how amazing it was that I was able to attend a church meeting where Douglas Schwartz was conducting and that I was singing about the prophet who I love and know to be a man of God. All this, these feelings, the spirit, miracles, they all stem from one thing; our Heavenly Father and his Son and their amazing love for us!
I am so thankful for making the time to attend this meeting. I was deeply touched by what I heard and saw and for the miracle that stood before me.
