Happy Tenth

I always knew that if I married Scott life would be full of surprises. And for the last 10 years I have never been disappointed! He has always gone above and beyond more then I could have imagined. He plans months and months in advance for these wonderful events and he never misses a thing.

Last Tuesday we celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary. I knew he had something planned for the weekend because he kept asking me to leave the weekend open. "Where could we be going?", I thought. "We don't have any money so I wonder if it's even over night somewhere?". All of these thoughts kept going through my mind. I knew Tuesday would be a normal day but the weekend would be great. So we celebrated Tuesday evening by going out with Awesome for some Mexican. Doesn't get better then that.

The next morning was a different story. Scott had left for work and Awesome was crying for a bottle. I got up and dragged myself to the kitchen when I noticed on the flat screen in the kitchen this video with a note from Scott telling me to push play....so I did!

After the video played another video started with him and Awesome on the screen. He explained that I needed to pack our bags and that we were flying out that afternoon to go to California. We were going to Disneyland and Awesome was coming with us. "Shut up, are you freaking serious...how the crap our we doing all of this", I didn't care, I was leaving town and on vacation no less!! California here we come!

The great thing about making a trip even better, having family you love who live in California and who want you to stay...and they'll even come hang out with you at Disneyland, show you around and hang out at the beach with you. Kristen and Glenn, you rock!

Kristen and Glenn at their home.Kristen whipping up a yummy dinner for us. It was so great to stay with them.The next morning we took a trip to see the Glass (Wayfarer's) Chapel down by the coast.

Later that day we left Awesome with Kristen and the boys and took off for Sony studios. We wanted to make the tour at 2:45 but missed it by ten minutes. Instead we waited for Glenn, who works for Sony animation, to get off work so he could show us around. Now that was cool and made up for our missed tour. Instead we got to see an inside look on what Sony animation is working on for next year. Hotel Transylvania is currently in the works and we got to see story boards, see the characters come to life, and visit with people who have done a lot of cool things for past animated films. I couldn't take a lot of pictures. Everything is very hush, hush. It was way awesome though. By the way, Glenn has won an Emmy and an Academy Award for the animation he's done. He's brilliant. It'll be fun to see more of his work!

Later that night Scott made up for the Mexican we had on our anniversary and took me out to a really fancy dinner. The restaurant was called the "Coast"...and it did, it sat right on the coast. Thanks again Kristen for watching Awesome.Disneyland here we come. The event we were looking forward to. A couple of Glenn animator friends and their families joined up with us. Glenn's friend Ben works for Pixar and got us all in for free or for a really low price. That is what made this work out so well. It was so awesome to have a group to hang out with. Glenn, Kristen, Max and JonasScott looked all day for this turkey leg and finally found it. It was pretty darn good.Our last ride of the day, Splash Mountain. I was in the front and got soaked. It was awesome though.Our last full day was spent catching up on sleep and spending time at the beach.

This year's anniversary was great. Not only was it a celebration of our wonderful marriage but of our beautiful son, our forever family. Now this is how living should be. I love you Scott. You make my world turn and you do it right!!!

p.s. I was kidding about the whole High School Musical thing. I thought I'd make that clear before Scott freaks out. :)

YW's Girls Camp 2009

This year we held girls camp on a ward level. This was my first time going to camp where it wasn't held on a Stake level. We got to be a little flexible with our choice in where to camp and what to do. So, we decided to go to Paris, Idaho. We had three main activities in mind that we thought would be perfect for this location: Bear Lake, Minnetonka Cave and the Cemetery. The Cemetery actually had old Pioneer family members buried there of some of the leaders and girls who came along.

First Day:
We left my house all packed up and ready to go by 9am. We made a stop up at the Logan Macey's so Bro. Bennion could pick up a Dutch Oven. Then we were on our way up Logan Cyn. I led the way but as we all knew, in the end Bro. Bennion would be passing us all up so he could lead the way. Bro. Bennion brought a lot of laughs. Unfortunately a lot of the laughs we had he was completely unaware of.

We arrived at camp around 12:30pm. This was the first time I had reserved something in my name. Welcome to the Paris Springs Camp Ground Baby!

After we all ate our sack lunch's we brought from home it was time to unload all our gear. This cracked me up. Bringing the cooler into camp was a group effort. The girls did it, and they were so proud.

While all of us girls were off putting up our tents I set the priesthood leaders out to put up our canopy. I told them specifically that the canopy was all in the back of Tami's truck. I didn't know how to put it up and neither did anyone else. "Good luck figuring it out" I said. Two hours later, and with no idea how to put up the canopy, this is what they came up with! "Are you kidding me?" I chuckled and said, "No way is this going to fly!". If a gust of wind were to come it would take that away in a heart beat. After examining it and being told by the guys that they were missing some elbows Danielle suggested going and looking in the back of the truck....low and behold there were the elbows. The key to putting up the canopy properly. Now come on guys, really? did you look in the truck? We laughed about that pretty hard. The guys were not at all happy with us.

to end off our first day we went over to the Paris Cemetery. Some of the girls had ancestors who were buried there. We looked at the headstones, looked at the dates, and told stories about pioneers. Danielle and the girls found a headstone that didn't list the death date. As soon as she found this she started to tell the girls about an old lady who would roam the cemetery in the evenings looking for her husband. No one knew if she was a spirit or if she was alive. This is why they don't have the death date on her headstone. At that moment I came out from behind a headstone dressed as an old lady. Hobbling and moaning. The girls screamed and took off running. It was the funniest thing ever! Danielle got a picture but I don't have it yet. It's a good one.

Day Two:

Our day was spent mostly playing at Bear Lake. We played in the water, played in the sand and enjoyed each other's company.

We had to steer clear of getting too close to the fire. Bro. Bennion kept chucking whole trees into the fire until we had to yell for him to stop. We feared he would set the whole forest on fire!

Day three:

Our visit to Minnetonka Cave. Here we are waiting for our tour. We had to wait an hour but with our group it seemed like the time flew by were were having so much fun.

Day Four:
Packing up and going home....in the rain. Thank goodness it stopped raining while we were packing. But everything was soaked.
